Can You Get a Really Save A Lot on RV Auctions?

Published

on

Compared to buying an RV from a dealership, or even buying one from a private party seller, you typically can save yourself a lot when you buy a used RV from an RV auction. There are several reasons why RV auctions cost less money. Mostly, has to do with the fact that everyone who is selling an RV at an auction is a motivated seller. These people want to sell as quickly as they can. Most of the time, these are credit unions, insurance companies, and banks that have to get rid of RVs that they have taken possession of.  The easiest way for them to sell them quickly is to sell them at an RV auction.

If you’ve never been to an RV auction before, you should learn the rules of the auction the first time that you attend. Find out if you have an opportunity to inspect the RVs prior to bidding. Also find out if you need to bring cash in order to bid on an RV. Most auctions will require that you either bring cash, or a certified check in order to be able to bid.

Learning how to bid can save you a lot of money. Before you set your maximum bid amount, you need to find out how much the RV is worth. You need to know the retail value, the wholesale value, at the Pvt. Party value. Typically you want to buy it at or below the holes all value. Also, you want to make sure you deduct any repairs that have to be made from the amount that you would otherwise be willing to bid. Make sure to write down this amount before the auction begins so that you can make sure you do not get carried away in bit too much for that RV.  Take the time to inspect it before you buy it. If you do, you can save yourself a lot of money and heartache later on.
