With its top-notch features and beautiful design, the investment of Nissan in this electric car is justified. As of now, the Nissan Leaf is the top selling new electric cars in the market today. It is powered by a 24kwh li-ion battery pack couples with an electric motor of 80kw which allows it  to run an amazing 60 to 110 miles. Being among the best new electric cars today, $32,780 is a good investment.

Fisker Karma is a high-performance beautifully-designed electric vehicle named after his designer Henrik Fisker. Unfortunately, this car may be too heavy for your type, weighing about 5,000 lbs. In addition, there are concerns on how its weight will affect its performance, even if it has a 22kwh lithium-ion battery pack with twin electric motors and 2L GM-sourced EcoTec engine. This car is capable of running on electricity for up to 60 miles plus an additional 200 miles with the gas engine. Even though no one has tried it yet, the car is expected to run fast. The car will be released on March 2011.
