1. Changing the Oil

And neglecting to change the oil regularly means that you are spending more on fuel, because your car does not work as efficiently as it can work. So if you think you saved a few pounds, think again.

2. Tyre Pressure

Inadequate tyre pressure is hard on the engine, the oil expenditure and it’s also very dangerous. While under inflated tyres mainly contribute to higher fuel expenditure and premature wearing, overinflated tyres can cause much more serious problems, such as a blowout in the middle of your driving.

A blowout in the open road can be extremely dangerous and result in a car accident. So every time you put fuel in your car, make sure to measure the pressure of your tyres and see if it’s adequate. This won’t cost you anything but a little bit of time, as almost every gas station has a measuring device available for free.

3. Car Dealer vs. Independent Auto Repair Shop

Many car owner’s take their car’s to their dealers for repairs – no wonder they all complain of big auto repair bills. While car dealers might be experienced and equipped to take care of your vehicle, often times they are much more expensive than independent car service providers. And although not all independent repair shops are equally as good, there are still plenty of them who can give you even better service for less money, you just need to know where to look.
